Excerpts from my pastor's sermon on 29th April 2006.
Steps of Secular Drift
======================
1. Personal, private prayer goes first.
2. Study life (anything related to christianity) begins to decline.
3. Personal lifestyle standards beging to slip.
4. Inconsistent church attendance.
5. Doubts about the Bible.
6. Growing distrust of religious institutions.
Antidote
========
1. Study life
- a. Must be relevant to daily life
- b. Devotion needs to focus on the person Jesus. Choice of material as important as devotional time.
- c. Devotion reading cannot be rushed.
- d. Develop a journal/reflect diary.
2. A life of prayer
- a. Can be any way you can (standing, sitting, eyes open..etc)
- b. Keep track through journaling.
- c. Let prayers go to the core. Not general stuff. Make it personal.
- d. Allow God to answer your prayers.
- e. An emphasis on thankfulness
3. Finding and setting aside time for devotion.
4. Lifestyle matters. Putting it to practice. No double standards. Read Ministry of Healing page 241-249.
