World's highest tennis court
Standing 321 metres high on a man-made island, the majestic Burj Al Arab is the world's tallest hotel.

The only seven-star hotel on the planet has created a new benchmark for luxury since its opening in 1999. It has 202 two-storey suites, an underwater seafood restaurant, gold mosaic floors and a fleet of white Rolls-Royces for its guests.

Each of the 202 duplex suites feature floor-to-ceiling windows, offering breathtaking views of the sea.

It was awarded the Best Hotel in the Middle East for the second year in a row at the 2004 Business Traveller Germany Awards Ceremony last month.

World No 1 Roger Federer hits the ball into the sea as Andre Agassi peeks down to see where the ball has landed on the world's most unique tennis court, the helipad at the Burj Al Arab Hotel, in Dubai on Monday.

Federer and Agassi couldn't resist the temptation to have a friendly 'hit' on the helipad, which is situated 211 metres high and which covers a surface area of 415 square metres.

yuppie

I can't stop listening to the "Twins". It's a 2 girl singing duo and they sing canto songs. Though i don't understand canto, i just like the upbeat melodic songs. I got the CD from Andrew who bought it all the way in China!! Thanks Andrew!! Since the sentosa trip 3 weeks back i've been listening to it everyday.

So today was another day spent at home. Come to think of it, i've been staying home since last june when i graduated. Of course along the way i took the MCAD course but then, i guess i'm getting used to staying at home and doing my own things.lol..some of my friends tell me they can't even survive if they dont' work or study. Well, for me i have some freelance work and church work so that keeps me busy enough. But i know soon i'll have to get down to real work and earn the money. That would be another transition in my life. From Student to Unemployed to Yuppie..;)

who knows the future?

These 3 days have been very tiring for us. What to do when she is part of the choir who came here to sing. Anyway, saturday and sunday was very dramatic for me. I've never had less sleep than this period. When i look back i think it's all crazy. But anyhow, let's see what happens between us later on. I really wonder what God is thinking about all this.

tiring day

today was a good but tiring day for me. Woke up early and went out with some friends..then at night we had a good cell group. When i went to church at 725 i only saw bobo sitting on the bench in church. I was then thinking "oh no, where is everyone". Then slowly the crowd started streaming in and finally we had 10 ppl in our cell. After that we went off and i had a good time driving those noisy but cute teens to JEC. hahaha..nicholas, shaun, barbara, cara, joel got into the car and i drove them to JEC. Oh well, yeah it was cool. That's what's good about having a car you see, you get to go where you want and bring your friends along with you too..lol. Ok gotta go sleep now.

it's supposed to show me passing the cake to her but i was too front..anyway.

ala cake

me and my mum..dad was taking the photo.

nice guy/girl

Was reading jeremy's blog and he posted 2 articles. Ode to the nice guys and Ode to the nice girls. Read both and i think i kinda qualify for being a nice guy though not perfectly. The description of a nice guy is just too perfect..haha. Anyway about the nice girls, i read this line:

This is for the hugs you've received from your female friends, for the nights they've reassured you that you are beautiful and intelligent and amazing and loyal and truly worthy of a great guy;

Oh please, if such girls ever exist i don't mind having a nice girl.

25th year

Today is my 25th Birthday!!!! But i don't feel happy at all. Not because of me being a year older but because of other stuff. I just feel hurt that God has brought us together and in the end, He had to cut short of us developing into a relationship. I don't blame God because i know He has His reasons of doing so and i know that plan A and B were fulfilled as a result. But then again, it's hard to just drop everything and get back to normal living. There were many miracles that God has shown me to hint to me that i shouldn't start a relationship with her.(I'm quite sure He's done the same to her too.) One miracle was for me to get to know one guy from the christian forums. I was just surfing around the forum when my eyes caught sight of this guy and i found out he was feeling hurt so i just msged him. Turned out that he had the same problem but slightly different. So to cut a long story short, i got quite some support from this guy and i've decided to stop this from going further. I don't know why God doesn't want us to be together even though we're both adventists but what the heck, He doesn't want means He doesn't want..don't complain. He has the best plans for us anyway.

So now not only am i celebrating my 25th birthday, i'm also celebrating my 25th year of singlehood. Hip Hip Hooray!!! After this week, i'm gonna pull myself back to the singles club.

Lamborghini Murcielago GT

I think like an SDA 100%!!

I thought i'll take it again since i received a complaint that i thought much like mormons and jws. I did misread some qns and didn't completely understand some so well here's my 2nd try.

I took BeliefNet's Belief-O-Matic Quiz.

Your Results:
The top score on the list below represents the faith that Belief-O-Matic, in its less than infinite wisdom, thinks most closely matches your beliefs. However, even a score of 100% does not mean that your views are all shared by this faith, or vice versa.

Belief-O-Matic then lists another 26 faiths in order of how much they have in common with your professed beliefs. The higher a faith appears on this list, the more closely it aligns with your thinking.

How did the Belief-O-Matic do? Discuss your results on our message boards.

celebration

Today was the celebration for the 100 years Adventists have worked in Singapore. It was held at Jurong church and i guess the event went really well. Everything was better than i expected. This includes the posters, exhibition banners, room arrangement, blah blah. The only thing i didn't like was the attendance. I think there wasn't much publicity for the event. Not even in Jurong. So the sanctuary was just almost packed but it could have been overflowing you see. It ended at 3pm and i went to clementi GNC to get something. I got the product Herpanacine. They had a "buy one get one free" offer so i got both 200 capsule bottles. Paid $115 for both. Then i decided to get whey protein. And i settled on Myoplex Original. Paid $150 for that. So i paid about $260 in total..ah!!!! It was fun knowing you had the money to spend but not so fun really coz it was your savings. Oh well...when i work i'll get more money.

tennis

phew..just got back from a long tennis session today. From 8pm to 1020pm. Started playing doubles for the first 1.5 hours. Realised i have to change the grip as it's peeling off. Also realised my right hand doesn't grip the racquet properly when i swing so it slips sometimes. Either i gotta train my grip or what. Anyway after the doubles we played a match which was kinda disastrous for me as my serve was lousy. Out of 10 serves i only could get in 3 shots. Oh well, hope they don't play matches again. Then i went on to play singles for the rest of the time. Well, i got a good workout and my right arm is abit aching now. Hail Tennis!

tired day

today spent half a day from 11am to 5pm visiting guitar shops. i think we went to about 6 shops. Wayne was looking for a bass guitar and we realised that only 3 of them were under $200. Yes a bass guitar is more expensive than an electric guitar. Walked from bugis to city hall to clarke quay and took a train to dhoby ghaut. Oh well, in the end we got nicholas pissed off. Honestly we didn't see it coming and he went home on his own. oh well, tried to patch up with him and i hope he's fine now.

Came home and worked out my triceps and back. Was tired when i started doing it but i had to force myself to do it otherwise i won't "grow". So again i added more weights to each exercise. Already i can feel the effects of adding more weight. I feel that my upper torso is bigger and bulkier but surprisingly i still weigh the same. Anyway we'll see what happens.

He's in charge

i've been taking an interest in the relationship of maia lee and sylvester sim ever since news broke out that they had registered at the ROM. Some of you may have read the news these few days over them. Basically, both of them registered and shortly after, they both felt "weird" and talked about it. Sylvester had done it without even telling his parents and said it was a rash act done in a "moment of weakness". They said they wanted to concentrate on their careers first. Sly said,

'After we applied for it, we felt weird already and started talking about it.' He added that he 'really can't remember' exactly when the decision was made.

I had experienced a "weird" relationship so i could identify with his "weird relationship" too. The difference is for mine, we ended off knowing that it was God who was in charge of everything.

This story about sly and maia came out at such an opportune time too. Like i said, God's in charge and working in my life.

my new gf(girl friend)...lol...hmm..nice color scheme don't u think?hahhaa

God's plan is the best!

About the bgr issue, we've finally settled it. The problem was, we weren't sure how best to start or end this complicated and weird relationship. Today, we finally realised that God had put us together to accomplish His plans. IOW, plan A was God's plan for me and plan B was God's plan for her. So basically we talked about it today and both of us were in fact happy and relieved. The focus was not about OUR relationship and whether we started but the focus was on what God was doing in our lives just by bringing us together. Yes, plan A and B were successful and i'm really happy and relieved. That's all that matters now. Maybe some of you might ask, "you seem happy that you're not together!" But that's really not the point. The point is whether God's will was done. And God's will was accomplished! These few days i've been trying to figure out what is God really doing. It's like a jigsaw puzzle where i find pieces and put them together to form the whole picture. I completed the puzzle, showed it to her and we both were happy. Too weird for you to know maybe, but it's just amazing.

In every difficulty He has His way prepared to bring relief.
The Desire of Ages, p. 330.

BTW, i took "get a gf" out from my resolutions in the next 5 yrs. I believe God has a plan for me so it's useless putting it there.

God is in control

I felt like looking up some texts about God being in control. Here are some including my thoughts:

“He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.” Dan 2:21

Even though God is unseen, yet He is capable of setting up kings and deposing them. If that's the case, then He certainly can set up circumstances and situations. But why would He want to do this?

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” Rom 8:28

Why does God want to "interfere" with our lives? Because it is God who causes all things to work together in our lives for ultimate good. Ok so God works for ultimate good. But if you're in pain, you may ask, why me?
Be assured that nothing can touch the Christian except by our Lord’s permission (see Job 1:12; 2:6), and all things that are permitted work together for good to those who love God.

What is this "good"?

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Tim 2:3-4

God's ultimate good is for all men to get to heaven. You may experience pain in your life, but take comfort that if you respond positively, you are doing God's will.

“What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses,
‘‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” Rom 9:14-16

God seeks the salvation of all men (1 Tim. 2:4). None need fear that they are outside the plan of salvation. But God in His wisdom chooses the agencies by whom He accomplishes His purposes. If those whom He selects to perform a certain task fail, He chooses others to take their place. Men are urged to cooperate with Heaven’s plans, and not to run if the Lord has called them.

busting my biceps..list update

finally i can rest. just finished my workout after having a 4 days break. I chose to start off with chest and biceps exercises this session and made sure i put extra weights. As i've said before, these few years i've just been maintaining my physique and that meant i kept to the same weights year after year. So now i'm dedicated to improve. I did 3 different chest exercises with 4 sets each. Then i went for biceps exercise. I used the barbell with 14.3 pounds weight on each side as warm up. Then i slowly increased it until it was 29.8 pounds on each side. I just did 4 repetitions on that and it was enough. It was the first time i went that high after so long and i felt a sense of achievement. It sure helps to have a picture of someone you respect to give you the motivation and drive. And of course my motivation was from Triple H. It's been about 2 weeks since i decided to improve so i could see that i was having more definition. I noticed that i was having less fat and that made my muscles more defined. One possible reason is because i've been eating more meals so the metabolic rate has increased therefore burning more fat. Oh well, i really hope that my body doesn't keep burning and burning otherwise i'll never put on mass.

Ok, i've updated the friends list too. Was thinking why i started with stating their full names. Actually thought of not putting their surnames too but what the heck, just make it consistent and it fits better with the layout anyway.

amazing love

relationships can be heart wrenching. That's what i learnt this week. I'm also reminded much about how God himself has suffered for us. In fact, that's where i draw the strength to continue on with this pain. Christ showed immense love to humans who had rejected him. Christ did all this and died for them, amidst the humiliation and rejection He received. What Christ needed was for hearts to turn to Him and respond to His love. However, He was sorely disappointed. But it was love for humans that drove Him to do it all. It is the mystery of love. Amazing love the Father has for me too. It was a week where i learnt alot about the sacrificial love that God has and applied it. May God help us the coming week by giving us peace.

More milk = healthier bones?

Finally the straits times publishes this about milk not being beneficial to healthier bones. About time.
Just go to those websites promoting milk intake. You will find no scientific evidence that milk gives us the calcium that we can absorb. It's a myth ppl. And this is a classic example of the industry(dairy industry) leading the blind.(people who don't bother to check). A classic example that shows us not everything in this world is as it seems even if the majority believes it to be true.

Appearing in the journal Pediatrics, the report drew its conclusions from previously published studies and was written by researchers from the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine, which advocates a strict vegetarian diet.

singles club

why do i feel so stressed up and worried over this whole bgr thing? Can't i relax more like i used to? I feel that i've extra responsibilities already. hai..i do like the singles club. There's also the couples club but the problem is, i'm in neither. Like in-between actually.I'm reminded of those chinese shows where the dead person's spirit is floating around after he dies. And that he's in some sort of transition stage. well, i'm like that now...and feeling stressed up...hai..i miss the singles club.

craving

i just finished a workout and boy do i feel the BURN. Did triceps and back training. Before i started my upper torso was aching abit already from the previous day's tennis session. And i'm still thinking about the amazing tennis session i had where i just whacked the @#@# out of the ball. I feel so free when i play tennis. It's the perfect stress reliever. Not only do you feel free, you also feel like a professional. Yup, i think about tennis almost everyday. You think I'm crazy?maybe. Tennis has become my lifeblood..okok this is going too far..haha. Anyway back to the workout, i had planned to train with a goal and that is to improve my strength so i added more weights and pumped it up! And the result was my muscles ache abit so that is a good thing because it's going to grow bigger..hehe..but the bad thing is since last monday, i'm still at about the same weight..grr. Gonna see what happens until the end of the week and decide what to do.

Touched by an Angel

Today i had quite an eventful day. In the morning i was doing ywc work and finished around noon. Then i ate lunch. While i was having lunch at 2pm, the show Touched by and Angel came on. For those who don't know, it's one of those rare shows you see where it freely talks about God. It showcases angels working in the lives of people. For example today the episode was about 3 boys who wanted to bomb a school. I'll describe real quick so it might sound lame. An angel spoke to one boy saying that he doesn't have to do it. So he decided not to meet up with the other 2. At the school, an angel approached the school nun and told her that something is going to happen. True enough, as she was going out of the office, she met the 2 boys and asked whether they were going to bomb the school. The boys were shocked and shot the nun in the arm. Thankfully she survived while the 2 boys went to plant the bombs around. Out of the 2 boys one was the hardcore one, the other just followed. So all the time he kept seeing another angel follow him and telling him not to do it. But ultimately it was his choice that's why the angel didn't stop him. She then asked why the angel had approached her(sister theordore) and not the other nun. Then she realised the angel was actually looking for mary and not sister theordore. What happened was this nun had a bad past. 30 yrs ago she had bombed a school with 2 other guys too and as a result, 1 person died. After that she dedicated her life to be a nun. And all the while the nun didn't feel fully healed because of that so in a way the angel was helping her settle her past too. Anyway, because of her past, she was able to relate to the boys and knew what words to say to them when they met in another room. Time was running out and the 3rd boy came to the school and knocked the "hardcore" boy with a fire extinguisher.
Bear in mind that the students were starting class at 8am and were coming back from mass. The bomb was set to blow at 8am. At the same time, the 2nd boy ran out and saw students walking towards the school. He told them not to go in but none believed him. The 3rd boy pulled the knocked out boy out of sch to safety and that meant the only human being left in sch was the nun. The angel said her final words to her and then the angels left. The nun struggled down the stairs and saw students about to come into the sch. She had a choice. Either to hit the fire alarm, or to run out the door. She saw the bomb too and it stated 1min left. She decided on the former and pushed the fire alarm. At once, all the students ran for their lives. And this is when the scene focuses on the nun and the enormity of her sacrificial deed. The scene changes to the bomb as it counted down to the last second and hit 8am. And the show ended. Well, after watching all that i cried. I've cried watching some touching movies before but so far this was the most impactful i've ever watched. I switched off the tv and went to the bathroom and was still crying and thinking how it is possible for a human being to do that. I mean it doesn't sounds like a big deal said in words but the show really knew how to depict that as it builds the whole story up until the grand finale where the nun sacrifices herself. And at the same time, she was recalling her past too and it's like she was atoning for the death of 1 person she was partly responsible of killing.
wow..anyway the show was just amazing. I was still crying and wondering in the bathroom how all this could be possible. And i thought about Jesus. I hear so many times about Jesus dying and i know for a fact that the enormity of the scene would had been much greater if i'd been there. Nowadays we just say it so much it becomes cliche but to really understand what it means is what i believe everyone should know. That's why i said the episode i saw today was really good.

After that chatted on msn for a while while listening to Alisha's Attic. At 4 plus i went to nus to play tennis with a friend after a 2 month hiatus. Played for about an hour and had a great game. Our skills were comparable that's why it was fun. Bad thing is i hit the ball too far many times so i really got to improve my accuracy. And after that went to the prophecy seminar. Pastor's teaching was really insightful. He teaches better than he preaches actually. lol...anyway it's time to go to bed.

games and career fair

Today was a tiring day. I went to the career fair at suntec and there weren't many booths for job seekers. However, there were alot of booths for educational pursuits which was is past my time already. I went along with a friend and so his options were more open so we stopped at various booths. One particular booth that we stopped was a school that offered ACCA. The lady gave us a brochure and told my friend about ACCA. I was looking at the brochure when i saw it state that if you work at least 3-5 years, you can get 5k! That amazed me and i questioned her the validity of the statement. So she replied saying that she's currently getting more than 5k. OKkkkk..so i was looking at a rich young lady..and she was quite chio too. She could talk well and i guess that added even more to the attraction quotient. But too bad she was about 30 or so so i guess no chance lah hor. Anyway it was nice talking to her. Then we went on to another booth selling magazines. My friend as usual was talking to them. I knew they were selling magazine subscriptions so i wasn't interested. But i saw a girl that was chio too. She had that indonesian look and was pretty..hard to describe lah. But she looked professional lor. Anyway..i didn't go there to look at girls ok. They just happened to be there and i noticed..so it's not a crime!!! I did get a few contacts for job agencies so i can send my resume to them. But all in all, what i think the fair is suitable are for ppl who want further education(including after Os) and who want a job in insurance.

After that i went to an improv (improvision) workshop. There were 5 ppl from chicago who came and presented and taught and included us in the fun and games. It was not stand up comedy at all. Yes they let us sit back and watch at the initial part on what they do. They asked what we wanted for a topic. So one person shouted it and the show began. 4 of them were lined up with 1 in front of them pointing at who should speak. So when the person was pointed to, he had to say something until he was not pointed to anymore. so the next person had to continue from where he left off. And so they had to improvise and come up with a totally wacky story that they had no idea in the first place. It was so cool. And one of the games we played was that. And it was just so fun. In fact that was my favourite game. The key is actually not to be self-conscious. Do not be afraid to express yourself and be embarrased. That way you get all the fun doing it. Oh well..i'm sure we'll play that in church or in camps one day. So look out for it.

My Desktop is Flying!!

My desktop is flying!!!! In the afternoon i went to sim lim sq to get 3 thing.
1) CMOS battery $3
2) 64MB GeForce4 PCI graphics card $95
3) Kingston 512MB Ram 266MHz $103

In all it was $201. I got back and installed them but the card and ram didn't work..so i was resigned to have wasted those money. I then tried again. And slowly but surely it worked!! I'm so happy now. Now i have a computer to really play games with. It was money well spent. yup yup.
