God is in control

I felt like looking up some texts about God being in control. Here are some including my thoughts:

“He changes times and seasons;
he sets up kings and deposes them.
He gives wisdom to the wise
and knowledge to the discerning.” Dan 2:21

Even though God is unseen, yet He is capable of setting up kings and deposing them. If that's the case, then He certainly can set up circumstances and situations. But why would He want to do this?

“And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose” Rom 8:28

Why does God want to "interfere" with our lives? Because it is God who causes all things to work together in our lives for ultimate good. Ok so God works for ultimate good. But if you're in pain, you may ask, why me?
Be assured that nothing can touch the Christian except by our Lord’s permission (see Job 1:12; 2:6), and all things that are permitted work together for good to those who love God.

What is this "good"?

“For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Saviour; Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” 1 Tim 2:3-4

God's ultimate good is for all men to get to heaven. You may experience pain in your life, but take comfort that if you respond positively, you are doing God's will.

“What then shall we say? Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses,
‘‘I will have mercy on whom I have mercy,
and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”
It does not, therefore, depend on man’s desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” Rom 9:14-16

God seeks the salvation of all men (1 Tim. 2:4). None need fear that they are outside the plan of salvation. But God in His wisdom chooses the agencies by whom He accomplishes His purposes. If those whom He selects to perform a certain task fail, He chooses others to take their place. Men are urged to cooperate with Heaven’s plans, and not to run if the Lord has called them.
