I just got back from sharon's farewell dinner before she leaves for perth to study. At least she won't "suffer" from having a long distance relationship as her boyfriend is in perth too. Unlike boon leong where he just left for taiwan today to visit his taiwanese girlfriend. That's the big problem of having a ldr, you can't see the other person often and sometimes the other party isn't there when you need him/her. That's the problem that this world is facing with regards to bgr and it won't go away unless air travel tickets plummets to those of coaches to malaysia. Maybe if AirAsia and Tiger Airways start another pricewar then we can start seeing prices to other countries drop like hail. Perhaps they'll come up with tickets to australia from $2! But until then, the practicality of having a ldr is certainly not there and it takes alot of effort and commitment to sustain it. Whereas if the relationship is in the same place/country, then it's much easier to sustain as getting around is much more convenient and you can do things together too. As for me, my mom talked to me before to expand my boundaries to other countries like vietnam. I was shocked that she even mentioned it. Apparantly i'm at the age where alot of people are getting attached and this week alone, i've had friends teasing me and asking me "when i'm going to find one". I was even rumored to have said that i have taken a vow of celibacy. Oh man...i really don't know where that came from. But the fact is, i'm single and proud of it! And frankly, right now what i want more is tennis pals. As for the dinner tonight, we had dinner at tiong bahru plaza (thai express). I was quite reluctant to go to that place as my school was just the next block but anyway it was decided and i followed with the majority. Amazingly all of them turned up early at 7pm. I came in at 7:05pm and i was the last one there. I can't believe that all of them came early which was very unusual. I could have told them that i was drawing money from the atm and it toko me 5 mins that's why i was late! But i didn't push it. We had a good testimony from sharon about why she transferred to jurong church. It's because of the friendliness and the atmosphere there that attracts her. Thank God that is so. I almost want to put those words on the church website. haha...yes our church is maturing but hasn't fully matured. In other words, if the current pastor leaves, our progress will be much slower i believe. So i can actually see that we're struggling to get our structures in place so that when the time comes that he leaves, we can run most of the ministries ourselves. And i hope to get the evangelism committee to be more effective and active. What it does is any activity related to evangelism and also bible study of our own members. Another ministry i am looking next is starting program which follows what educational institutions have. We have structured classes like bible101,bible102,prophecy101...blah blah. With such modules in place, we can be sure more people are "taken care of" and have a well-rounded bible study rather than submitting them to the mercy of the bible teachers who choose their own topics to teach. This is an amazing article that writes about this.
